Opti-Pren™ TPV

Opti-Pren TPV is a range of thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPV) that combines the elastic performance of rubber with the easy processing of thermoplastics. Grades can be formulated to match specific application requirements, from soft-touch grips to demanding automotive and cable applications. Opti-Pren TPV complements the Santoprene® TPV portfolio with tailored solutions, including modified grades for bonding, flame retardancy and recycled content.

Available in natural, black and grey. Halogen-free flame-retardant (ZHFR) grades are available. Grades can include post-consumer (PCR) or post-industrial (PIR) recycled content, and TPV scrap can be taken back for closed-loop reuse.

Key properties

• Customized formulations: Opti-Pren TPV can be tailored to the exact needs of each application, including hardness, colour and recycled content.
• Enhanced bonding: Modified grades bond to ABS, PS, PC, PMMA, ASA, PET and PPO/PS blends, making them well suited for 2K (two-component) moulding.
• Fluid and chemical resistance: Opti-Pren TPV performs reliably in demanding environments with exposure to a wide range of fluids.
• Halogen-free flame retardancy: ZHFR grades offer flame retardancy without halogens, supporting safety and environmental requirements.
• UV and weather resistance: Combines UV resistance with colourability, making it a strong choice for outdoor applications.
• Easy processing: Can be processed using standard thermoplastic methods, such as injection moulding, extrusion, thermoforming, vacuum forming and blow moulding.
• Sustainability: Requires less energy to reprocess than traditional rubber, and its durability extends product lifetime and reduces replacements.
• Colour customization: Custom colours can be developed in cooperation with colouring specialists.
