Quality You Can Count On: ISO 9001:2015 Certified
As a certified ISO 9001:2015 distributor since 2022, we operate under one of the world's most recognized quality management standards, ensuring consistent performance, reliability, and continuous improvement across all our business processes.
What is ISO 9001:2015?
ISO 9001:2015 is the international standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS),
developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It provides a structured framework that helps organizations meet customer expectations, reduce errors, and drive operational efficiency, consistently and at scale. Certification requires independent third party auditing and ongoing compliance, making it a trusted mark of quality worldwide.
What does it Mean for You as Our Partner?
For a distribution company like Bjørn Thorsen, ISO 9001:2015 certification means that every order, process, and customer interaction is governed by documented procedures and measurable quality objectives. You benefit from reduced risk of errors and delays, traceable and transparent processes throughout the supply chain, a partner committed to continuous improvement, and consistent service delivery regardless of order size or complexity.

Managing Our Environmental Impact: ISO 14001:2015 Certified
At Bjørn Thorsen, environmental responsibility is not a formality, it is a structured, measurable commitment built into how we operate every day.
As an ISO 14001:2015 certified company, we follow a globally recognized Environmental Management System (EMS) that holds us accountable for our environmental impact.
What is ISO 14001:2015?
ISO 14001:2015 is the international standard for Environmental Management Systems, developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It provides organizations with a proven framework to identify, manage, and reduce their environmental impact in a systematic and transparent way. Achieving and maintaining certification requires independent auditing and demonstrated compliance, making it a credible signal of genuine environmental commitment.
What does it Mean for You as Our Partner?
For a distribution company like Bjørn Thorsen, ISO 14001:2015 certification means our environmental performance is actively monitored, documented, and improved over time. Working with us means choosing a partner that takes regulatory compliance seriously, works to minimize waste and resource consumption across the supply chain, and aligns with the growing demand for environmentally responsible business practices.

Verified Sustainable Materials: ISCC+ Certified
As demand for recycled and bio- materials grows, so does the need for verified, traceable proof of their origin and sustainability credentials. At Bjørn Thorsen, we hold ISCC+ certification across our company and three of our warehouse locations, enabling us to source, store, and distribute certified sustainable materials with full transparency and chain of custody documentation.
What is ISCC+?
ISCC+ (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) is a globally recognized certification scheme for sustainable materials, including recycled and bio-based content. It provides a rigorous framework for traceability across the entire value chain, ensuring that sustainability claims attached to materials are documented, verified, and auditable at every step. ISCC+ is widely used across industries such as plastics, chemicals, and packaging, where the origin and composition of materials increasingly matter to both regulators and end customers.
What does it mean for you as our partner?
For a distribution company like Bjørn Thorsen, ISCC+ certification means our customers receive more than just materials. They receive documented proof of sustainability. For every shipment of ISCC+ certified material, we issue a Sustainability Declaration, giving you the traceability documentation you need to support your own sustainability reporting, compliance requirements, and customer commitments.
Our certification covers Bjørn Thorsen A/S and three of our warehouse locations, ensuring that certified materials are handled and stored in full accordance with ISCC+ requirements throughout our operations.

Our ESG Performance, Independently Verified – EcoVadis Bronze Rated
At Bjørn Thorsen, we believe our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) commitments only carry weight when they are validated by an independent third party and benchmarked against the broader market. That is why we submit to the EcoVadis assessment, one of the world's most trusted and rigorous sustainability rating platforms.

Taking Climate Action Through the Science Based Targets Initiative
Reducing emissions is not enough if the targets behind them lack scientific credibility. At Bjørn Thorsen, we have made a formal commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), with the goal of developing near-term and long-term emission reduction targets grounded in the latest climate science and consistent with the 1.5°C pathway of the Paris Agreement. This is a commitment we have made publicly and are actively working to fulfil.
What is the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)?
The Science Based Targets initiative is an independent body that enables companies to set greenhouse gas emission reduction targets in line with what climate science says is necessary to limit global warming. SBTi targets are not self-declared. They are reviewed, validated, and publicly listed by the initiative, making them one of the most credible and transparent frameworks available for corporate climate action. Companies with validated SBTi targets are held to a clear, evidence-based standard that goes beyond general sustainability ambitions.
What does it mean for Bjørn Thorsen and our partners?
We are currently developing our emission reduction targets in accordance with SBTi requirements. Once finalized, these targets will be submitted to SBTi for independent review and validation. Our goal is to complete this process and achieve full SBTi validation by January 2028. Until that validation is confirmed, we present this as a work in progress and a firm commitment, not a completed achievement. We will update this page as our targets develop and once validation is confirmed.
