Medical Polymers

Medical TPEs Distributed by Bjørn Thorsen

Medical polymers are used for a variety of human contact and non-contact applications in the medical industry. These materials are mostly used in the manufacture of medical implants, devices, disposables and packaging.

Medical TPV, TPC and EVA from Celanese

Medical-grade polymers from Celanese offer high-performance solutions for demanding healthcare applications. These materials are widely used in medical tubing, drug delivery systems, seals, wearable devices, and flexible components where reliability, safety, and consistency are essential. With strong regulatory support and proven biocompatibility, they enable manufacturers to meet strict medical standards while ensuring long-term performance.

Santoprene® TPV MED is known for its excellent elastic recovery, resistance to chemicals and sterilization methods. It is particularly suited for applications requiring flexibility combined with durability, such as tubing, seals, and closures. Compared to many conventional medical TPEs, it offers enhanced longevity and maintains performance even under repeated stress and exposure.

Hytrel® TPC MED provides a unique balance between flexibility and mechanical strength. It performs well in demanding environments where resistance to fatigue, pressure, and temperature is required. This makes it ideal for components where standard TPEs may fall short in mechanical robustness.

Ateva® G EVA is an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer valued for its softness, clarity, and ease of processing. It is widely used in applications such as IV tubing, teeth grinding guards, medical device components, orthopedic insoles, flexible pouches, medical films, and bags, especially where transparency and flexibility are important. Compared to other medical elastomers, it offers excellent processability and consistency, making it a reliable choice for high-volume production and sensitive healthcare uses.
