Engineering Polymers

Engineering plastics are a group of plastic materials that have higher mechanical and thermal properties than the more widely used commodity plastics (such as polystyrene, PVC, polypropylene and polyethylene). The Chanlon™ product families of high-performance specialty polyamides from Shandong Xianglong New Materials Co. Ltd. (Xianglong) includes transparent nylon (incl. a high temperature grade), barrier nylon, and long chain PA (PA1010, PA1012). Some of the characteristics of these nylon 12 materials are: permanent transparency and high light transmission; high dimensional stability and easy processing; excellent abrasion and scratch resistance, and many more. These materials can be used in a wide range of end-applications, like electronics, automotive, construction, household appliances, medical equipment, baby products, etc.

Polyolefins

Acti-Tech™ compatibilizers are Bjørn Thorsen’s own brand for the range of products used as impact modifiers of stiff polar engineering thermoplastics, coupling agents enabling higher filler loadings, adhesion promoters on metal & polar substrates, as well as performance booster of recycled feeds – among other purposes. These are PP-based thermoplastic elastomeric maleic-anhydride grafted polymers, produced via efficient melt grafting processes, resulting in high functionalization with controlled melt flow index (MFI) specifications. The products are used in various applications, such as recycling, packaging, wood plastic composites (WPC) and have also a food approved grade.

Aluminium Hydroxides Flame Retardants from Inotal

Aluminum hydroxides are used as non-halogen flame retardant filler in plastics and rubber in order to retard the expansion of fire in environmentally friendly way. They are used for the production of low-smoke and halogen free flame retarders.

ALOLT from Inotal is mainly used as a flame retardant and filler material, as well as a raw material in plastics, cables, adhesives, construction materials, ceramics, and glass.

Ultra Purge™ Purging compounds from Chem-Trend

Bjørn Thorsen offers the highly efficient Ultra Purge™ Purging compounds from Chem-Trend developed to match with the materials, machines and operating ranges of plastics processors producing a wide range of end products. They are used for color and material changes, removal of color and carbon deposits, as well as cleaning hot runner mold.

LUSIN® Process aids from Chem-Trend

Bjørn Thorsen distributes a wide range of LUSIN® materials from Chem-Trend: cleaners, lubricants, protective agents, release agents and mold maintenance products.

These are high-performance products developed to meet the requirements of thermoplastics processing industry, in orde to improve process efficiency and product quality, whilst also lower maintenance, epair, and operational costs.
