With a strong focus on quality, consistency, and technical support, Bjørn Thorsen is a reliable partner in sourcing and distributing advanced plastic materials tailored to customers’ specific needs.
Engineering Polymers
Engineering plastics are a group of plastic materials that have higher mechanical and thermal properties than the more widely used commodity plastics (such as polystyrene, PVC, polypropylene and polyethylene). These polymers have gradually replaced traditional engineering materials such as wood or metal in many applications, being much easier to manufacture, especially in complicated shapes.
Bjørn Thorsen distributes various types of specialty engineering polymers for leading manufacturers like: Lubrizol, Nurel, Geba or Xianglong, available in different countries around Europe
Polyolefins
Polyolefins are a broad family of thermoplastic polymers known for durability, flexibility, and chemical resistance. They include polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP homo and copolymer), EVA, and advanced materials such as PE & PP compounds, polyolefin elastomers, and plastomers. Widely used in packaging, automotive, and construction, they offer lightweight, versatile, and cost-efficient solutions across many industrial applications.
Biopolymers
Biopolymers are natural, renewable materials derived from plants, microorganisms, or biological processes. They offer a sustainable alternative to traditional plastics, combining functionality with reduced environmental impact. Commonly used in packaging, textiles, and medical applications, biopolymers help lower carbon footprints while supporting a circular economy focused on biodegradability and resource efficiency.
Bjørn Thorsen distributes various types of bio-degradable, bio-based or biocomposites options for leading manufacturers like: Lubrizol, Nurel, WoodComposites Sweden or Xianglong, available in different countries around Europe.
Additives & Modifiers
Additives and modifiers play a critical role in fine-tuning the performance, processing, and durability of plastic materials. By incorporating carefully selected functional components, base polymers can be enhanced to meet specific technical and aesthetic requirements. Our portfolio includes solutions that improve impact resistance, UV and thermal stability, flame retardancy, color, and processability, as well as modifiers that adjust flexibility, stiffness, and surface properties. These materials enable manufacturers to optimize product performance, extend lifecycle, and achieve consistent quality across a wide
range of applications.
Purging & Release Agents
Purging compounds or agents are products formulated specifically to clean thermoplastics molding machines and extruders. They typically contain a base resin and other additives intended to clean the screw, barrel, and extruder die.
Release agents or process aids are all the cleaners, lubricants, protective agents and mold maintenance products, which ensure that injection or extrusion machines run at their optimal conditions, avoiding production stops or any other issues that might arise during material processing.

Ultra Purge™ Purging compounds from Chem-Trend
Bjørn Thorsen offers the highly efficient Ultra Purge™ Purging compounds from Chem-Trend developed to match with the materials, machines and operating ranges of plastics processors producing a wide range of end products. They are used for color and material changes, removal of color and carbon deposits, as well as cleaning hot runner mold.
LUSIN® Process aids from Chem-Trend
Bjørn Thorsen distributes a wide range of LUSIN® materials from Chem-Trend: cleaners, lubricants, protective agents, release agents and mold maintenance products.
These are high-performance products developed to meet the requirements of thermoplastics processing industry, in orde to improve process efficiency and product quality, whilst also lower maintenance, epair, and operational costs.
