Flame retardants are substances that are added to combustible materials to prevent fires from starting or to slow the spread of fire and provide additional escape time.
Aluminum hydroxides are used as non-halogen flame retardant filler in plastics and rubber in order to retard the expansion of fire in environmentally friendly way. They are used for the production of low-smoke and halogen free flame retarders.
