We are happy to announce that Bjørn Thorsen A/S (BT) has welcomed a new affiliate, Digital Serigraphic Technologies A/S (DST A/S) into the Bjørn Thorsen group (BTG). BT has a majority share in DST A/S, and operates the new company as of March 16, 2020.
The mission of DST A/S is to accelerate the adoption of innovative and effective solutions for the digital transfer industry. This technology is based on a unique combination of proprietary release liners, inks, adhesives and special additives, forming an ideal matched component system (the ‘DST System’). It was previously licensed to and commercialized by an affiliate of Reflex Holding AS, Digital Screenprinting Technologies ApS (DST ApS).
All appropriate actions have been put in place to ensure a smooth and rapid transition from DST ApS to DST A/S of relevant contractual obligations, existing customer relationships and ongoing developments.
The integration of DST A/S into the BT group will deliver the full potential of the DST System. DST A/S will benefit from BT’s strong capabilities as innovation-focused company, robust financial backbone and growing international presence. There are many synergies between DST A/S products and technologies with BT’s distribution portfolio and proprietary products available through its various affiliates. This acquisition will strengthen BT’s longtime partnerships with key market leaders, in broad areas such as additives, PU dispersions and thermoplastic polyurethanes, as well as pigments. BT is also on track to achieve the ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications for the entire group soon and will focus on providing more sustainable solutions through affiliates’ new product developments wherever feasible.
